My Story
I grew up in Michigan immersed in the physical sciences. I went to church with my family as a youngster but it was very ritualistic and didn’t provide any answers to my questioning mind. Then I went to college, and threw religion out. While I had a Christian roommate, he couldn’t answer any of my questions either. Met a girl, fell in love and was thinking about marriage when she left me for a married man. I was totally devastated…
So I left for California, determined to get away from all the memories of her in my small college town. Before leaving, I went to my brother’s church. What a shock! People were testifying as to how a personal relationship with Jesus – not religion – had changed their lives. Got to California and quickly realized that I couldn’t run away from my memories. Broken, I invited Jesus into my heart and life… to take my messed-up life and make something out of it.
My first prayer was for God to find me a godly wife who could make the memories of my old girlfriend irrelevant. My second prayer was for God to answer these nagging questions I had about Him. In the next few months, things began to look up for me. I found a great Christian fellowship group and some wonderful Christian friends – who are still my friends to this day. I started to get answers to my questions in this fellowship group. I discovered that I am, and always have been, a life-long learner. How great it was for me to discover that others had similar questions. And, it turns out my questions weren’t all that difficult to answer, after all… Six months later, I met my future wife. From the moment I met her, those old memories became powerless. Within two years, we were married. That was almost forty years ago. We now have three sons in their thirties, three daughters-in-love (some people call them ‘daughters-in-law’) and nine adorable grandchildren… we are blessed.
Ever since those early California days, I have had a desire to provide answers to those who are honestly seeking answers. Hence, my rational, logical, apologetic approach to the things of God. ‘Apologetic’ just means giving a reason for why you believe what you believe. For over 20 years, I have been teaching adult education classes at our church. I developed the material for each of these classes. And now, I’m retired. It has been a long-time passion of mine to create this teaching website. I hope and pray that these classes bless each of you as much as it has blessed me to create them…

Since becoming a Christ-follower in 1974, Dave has been an avid student of the Bible, with a special emphasis on apologetics (rationally defending the faith). He and his wife, Patti, have been married 39 wonderful years as of July 31st 2015, and have three sons in their thirties, two daughters-in-law and nine adorable grandchildren. They are blessed with lots of love and time with family, as two of their sons (and their families) live only a few minutes away. Their circle of friends is more like extended family, and they share life, laughter and love with many of them on a weekly basis…
